Thank You For Your Service
Always looking for something to watch...
...Kathy picked a good one.
The movie “Thank You For Your Service”.
It was horribly depressing however...
...to know that it’s a tragic, true story about young men who suffered in Iraq and then really suffered when they returned.
An all-too-familiar scenario.
They return to PTSD, no jobs, poor healthcare.
The money is not there for them.
The politicians use them during the run up to an election...
...and then deny them benefits once the election is over.
As for the movie, the acting was great, the story will make your heart ache.
Made me wonder why men are sent off to fight, and sometimes die.
All these years, and this is all we’ve learned about living.
The movie ended with Springsteen singing the Freedom Cadence.
Soft, rhythmic and haunting.
When people talk about war and fighting...
....when they cheer about the start of a war...
...they should consider the boys in the uniform...
...and the men they are forced to become.
It’s way too sad that it’s all we’ve learned about living.
Thank you for your service.
Indeed.
