At the Foot of Liberty

An unbelievable image started making the rounds on the 4th of July.

A black woman had somehow broken through and made the climb to the Statue of Liberty. She hoisted herself up and sat at the base, letting it be known that she wasn’t coming down until all the children who’d been separated from their parents at the border were back with Mom and Dad.

An unreal protest.

The woman was eventually brought down and hit with Federal misdemeanor charges...

...which, coincidentally enough, is what it takes to be separated from your family and tossed into cages.

The aspect of the border story that really makes my blood boil is that some people, very high up in our government, are profiting off the border separation issue.

These people have a stake n the housing of the children and are collecting dollars every time a kid is led to a cage.

Kids are in cages!!!

No matter where you stand on the complicated issue this can’t be right...

...right???

And they can’t find their way back to their family.

That’s something to protest, isn’t it??

On Independence Day?

I followed the story throug the evening as I tried to keep my elderly dog from having a panic attack because kids were spending hours with more fireworks, in a tight residential neighborhood than were set off at the local park.

And for the first time all day, I felt proud of something.

The climb to the base of the Statue of Liberty wasn’t for the feint of heart.

The woman had to climb!

There’s a great photo of her at the base as a tethered cop tries to talk her into coming down.

The story will explode.

Those who want to stop protests from happening will dig into the woman’s past and rip her for her stand.

Those who are in the resisting camp will make her a folk hero.

And you know where a continent of Republican congressmen were?

In Russia.

Preparing a meeting between Trump and Putin.

Trump doesn’t want anyone taking notes at the summit.

Wonder why?

What a celebration!

Man, I have a sinking feeling.

The ribs were good though.
