Just Despicable

On Wednesday a car went airborne near the Rainbow Bridge that connects Canada and the United States.

Fox News was all over the reporting of the story.

I was working and barely glanced at the coverage, but what I read was that it was a car-filled with explosives driven by terrorists.

“Good Lord! That’s 20 miles from here,” I thought.

A friend texted to ask me if I was following the story and I repeated what I’d read - unknowingly - off  that right-wing account.

“That’s not what I heard,” my friend texted. “God, I pray that’s not true.”

I went to a trusted news source and immediately learned that Fox was reporting the exact opposite of what was actually happening.

Turns out the two people who died were a couple, in their mid-50’s. They were driving a Bentley. They were not trying to get into the country - they were going to a casino in Canada.

There aren’t any more answers than that right now - who knows why the car was traveling at such a high rate of speed.

Terrorism has been ruled out.

There wasn’t a driver’s license from someone from Iran at the scene.

Biden’s immigration policies were not to blame.

Yet, that’s what Fox reported and, frankly, what they were rooting for.

The usual suspects posted the misinformation on Twitter and before long, it was being repeated by the members of the cult.

“I know what they’re saying,” one guy told me, “but you can’t convince me that it wasn’t terrorism.”

Fox never updated the story with the truth. They just stopped reporting on it.

A little while later, I was looking at a Springsteen fan page.

A guy jumped on explaining that Bruce was a scumbag because he didn’t serve in Viet Nam.

Bruce addressed why a number of times - he was in a motorcycle accident and had a damaged knee - he failed the physical.

I don’t know why, but I let the man know the truth. He answered by saying, “He’s a liberal slug. I’m voting for Trump. Springsteen never did a damn thing for the Vets.”

That made me laugh.

Every year, without fail - since the 1980’s Springsteen has shown up for the NYC benefit - ‘Stand Up for Heroes.’

He has written a number of songs that benefit vets and has made huge donations.

But that guy is for Trump!

The guy who had deferrals because of bone spurs. The man who made fun of McCain and wounded vets. The same dope who fought with the gold star father.

How sad.

How despicable.

People don’t have a chance because they are being fed bad information, and they choose to ignore the truth.

You can have your own opinion but you can’t have your own facts.
