Pure Craziness
There were another 300 shootings this past weekend.
150 dead.
A 4-year-old girl was shot while watching fireworks. She died over the weekend.
A whole bunch of people will get away with murder. There’s no way that they will even bother to try and solve those murders.
Here’s the thing:
It happens almost every weekend, especially in the summer months.
I can’t believe that the public good doesn’t take precedent.
So many people have their lives cut short and we take a collective shrug.
Nothing to be done!
And the Capitol insurrection was a ‘lovefest’?
There was love in the air?
We have no interest in making sure that doesn’t happen again?
Law & Order is bandied about when there is an election
But my, my, my these are lawless times.
There was an indictment on tax fraud a couple of weeks back.
“We’re talking about $3.5 million dollars? What’s the big deal?”
Imagine stealing $3.5 million as just a regular working slug and telling the IRS that it was a mistake, and not even worthy of their time.
There are people in jail for stealing food from a convenient store.
And of course any discussion of trying to curtail the violence will land on the availability to secure a firearm and the chance at arriving at a compromise is less than nil.
So, the next weekend brings hundreds of more shootings.
They busted someone with an arsenal at a hotel room near the baseball All-Star game.
Imagine a scene of destruction at a major sporting event.
We may not have to imagine it that much longer…
…seems like the violence continues to escalate.
What will it take for Congress to eventually address it somehow?
Maybe it will take years…
…to replace the dinosaurs who are good with how it’s all going.
I may not be around long enough to see that change.
I’ve made my living trying to help prevent deaths in the workplace.
A lot of time, energy and money is spent doing that.
Nothing can be done about a 4-year-old being shot to death watching fireworks.
That’s just the price we pay for freedom.
Pure
Craziness.
