He Needs A Ride Home

Randy Dobnak is a pitcher for the Minnesota Twins.

I follow baseball closely, but I’d never heard of him until the Twins announced that he would be starting Game 2 in Yankee Stadium on Saturday.

I was surprised. They had a perfectly good veteran pitcher available in Jake Odorizzi, but, okay. Maybe they were trying to catch lightning in a bottle. I just know that Yankee Stadium can be an unforgiving place for young pitchers.

As the game got close on Saturday I heard a bit about Dobnak being an Uber driver as he tried to supplement his minor league income.

As an aside here, the money made by guys trying to make it to the Show is borderline ridiculous. It’s chicken feed, actually, and MLB has to fix it.

Anywhoha...

Dobnak wasn’t good.

The Yankees scored on him in the first and then really set up a big inning in the 3rd. A grand slam by Didi made it 7-0 and it was all over.

A bit later, the Yankees fans were chanting:

Uber, Uber, Uber.

By Sunday morning all the social media was in a frenzy claiming that Yankees fans are classless, pieces of crap.

Really????

This is how far we’re taking the sensitive, fake outrage garbage?

It’s a baseball game.

A crowd of people needling the opposing pitcher.

“We want a pitcher, not a belly itcher,” is okay?

Uber is not?

Dobnak’s life wasn’t threatened.

His feelings were probably more hurt by the hits. He’s a big boy. He can take it.

The best part was that a lot of Bills fans were moaning about it.

Anyone see the jumping through flaming tables videos?

Or what was tossed on the field at Brady?

“Uber” is where the line is drawn?

Give me a break!

Go Yankees!

Get the brooms out.
