Springsteen and Dino

I had a dream last night that there is a lost CD out there of duets from Springsteen and Dean Martin.

I find that to be an extremely interesting coupling because they are certainly favorites in the Fazzolari family. My Dad would have certainly been quick to point out who had the better voice while we would have been talking about songwriting and marathon concerts.

But sadly, the Boss and Dean have never performed together.

Yet speaking of music I am really tired of the sounds coming out of my kid's I-pods. Just awful stuff sung by young men who can't even spell the one name they have...and my kids compare it to Bruce.

But there was severe panic around my i-pod a couple of days ago. I sat before my locked computer screen with music that wouldn't play.

I was finally able to get the following message:

RESTORE ORIGINAL FACTORY SETTINGS.

In small print underneath there was a note that said that doing so would result in a loss of all data.

Now I'm no genius but to me it appeared that I had a single option that would result in my losing 2000 of the best songs (including 600 songs from Bruce & Dean).

"It's broke," I said.

"You want me to look at it?" My beautiful wife asked.

"What can you possibly do that I'm not doing?" I replied.

My wife waited me out. I finally threw my hands in the air and got out of my seat.

Two quick moves later a Stones song filled the air.

My wife looked over.

"Thank God I fixed it," I said.

Kathy laughed. "Tell me I'm brilliant," she said.

But I wouldn't admit it.

But I'll admit it now. My brilliant wife saved my I-pod.

Now if she can just figure out how to erase my kids data and find that Springsteen-Martin CD...

...I'll be all set.

My Buddy, Dave

Way back in 1997, I started working with a steel erection company out of Syracuse. I was coming straight from a long stint with a steel erector here in Buffalo so I knew my stuff when it came to steel erection safety rules. On day one, I met with the safety director and he was just getting started as a safety guy, but man, he certainly cared about the guys he worked with. Dave was a good man from the start. He’d say things like: “You’re so full of beans.” Just a down to earth, hardworking guy who became a fast friend. We drove all around New York State setting up jobs. I always let Dave drive so that I could rest. Mom & Ollie

 Ollie Stadium is a mess. The heavy rains rendered the backyard a mud pit and even though we threw in the side yard, the Big O was looking for more, and we were both covered in mud. I had to take some steam out of him somehow so I suggested we go visit Grandma. Ollie hates the car, but he laid quietly as we made the trip. We even brought the football because there is plenty of room to play at Grandma’s. Mom opened the door and started laughing. I thought about the love she had for every single dog we ever had. Oliver was quick to give my Mom a kiss, and then he stood beside her. The love between Mom and Dogs is a mutual bond. Through the years, Mom would make breakfast for the dogs.  Fried eggs, toast, bacon… She would wrap Christmas gifts for them. “To Jeter, Love Santa,” she would write on the cards. They played with the big chicken that made a lot of noise. Mom tossed the football and Ollie brought it back to her. As the visit drew to a close I headed for the door.  “C’mon, Oliver,”
