A-ROD IS FATIGUED

I'm thinking that the streak for waking up before six in the morning is at about two years now. I'm not patting myself on the back, but I never miss work. I hardly ever have a day that would be considered lazy.

I feel guilty when I don't write. I feel guilty when I don't spend some good time with the family. I know a whole bunch of working slobs like me. Working hard - day in and day out - for enough money to have a decent family.

A-Rod is making $204,700 a game - he's 0 for 3 tonight. Insert me into the clean-up position and I'd have the same sort of day and I'd look fetching in the pinstripe uniform.

Which isn't to say it's easy, but the announcer frosted my ass when he mentioned that part of the problem is that A-Rod is fatigued.

Oh really?

Was it the long line at the buffet after sleeping until 4 in the afternoon that did him in?

Was it the seven times he swung and missed?

Was it those late nights with Kate Hudson?

Was it that long plane ride from Florida to Georgia.

Fatigued my ass.

Follow me around - follow my wife around as she does her work. Hell, follow any man or woman struggling to make ends meet.

Why am I watching this dork?

I hope he homers next time up.

Okay, I'm going to go out on a limb here and comment the way I think Jeff might:

"You had me through the whole thing up until you said you'd be fetching in a pinstripe suit, and then I couldn't concentrate on the rest of the story. Keep the jokes like that until the end."

I really thought the Yankees would have three games to turn things around. The Braves have been struggling too. The Yankees have anther chance tonight, but you in pinstripes YIKES!

Hey folks, the whole pinstripe thing was brought in to make Babe Ruth look svelte after he showed up one year weghing like 350. If it worked for the Babe, it would almost certainly work on Cliffy.

My Buddy, Dave

Way back in 1997, I started working with a steel erection company out of Syracuse. I was coming straight from a long stint with a steel erector here in Buffalo so I knew my stuff when it came to steel erection safety rules. On day one, I met with the safety director and he was just getting started as a safety guy, but man, he certainly cared about the guys he worked with. Dave was a good man from the start. Mom & Ollie

 Ollie Stadium is a mess. The heavy rains rendered the backyard a mud pit and even though we threw in the side yard, the Big O was looking for more, and we were both covered in mud. I had to take some steam out of him somehow so I suggested we go visit Grandma. Ollie hates the car, but he laid quietly as we made the trip. We even brought the football because there is plenty of room to play at Grandma’s. Mom opened the door and started laughing. I thought about the love she had for every single dog we ever had. Oliver was quick to give my Mom a kiss, and then he stood beside her. The love between Mom and Dogs is a mutual bond. Through the years, Mom would make breakfast for the dogs.  Fried eggs, toast, bacon… She would wrap Christmas gifts for them. “To Jeter, Love Santa,” she would write on the cards.
