Make the Ordinary Come Alive

Stumbled upon this from the book: That Person's Tao Te Ching by William Martin.

Just a beautiful thought.

Make the Ordinary Come Alive

Do not ask your children

to strive for extraordinary lives.

Such striving may seem admirable,

but it is a way of foolishness.

Help them instead to find the wonder

and the marvel of an ordinary life.

Show them the joy of tasting
tomatoes, apples and pears.

Show them how to cry

When pets and people die.

Show them the infinite pleasure

in the touch of a hand.

And make the ordinary come alive for them

The extraordinary will take care of itself.

On Saturday night I felt a great amount of angst given all that was left to do to 'get ready for Christmas' and I think that we all struggle with that sort of feeling inside.

And then we don't enjoy it like we had planned.

I'm a task-driven man...sometimes to the detriment to all that is going on.

Going to enjoy the ordinary this season...

...the extraordinary is all around me.
