A Christmas Play, Armageddon, and Ducking Shoes

This little light of mine, I'm going to let it shine,

We went to the kids Christmas play at school - a mob scene of parents and kids singing songs - (at least Kathy wasn't singing along)and it thrilled me to no end to see the boys up there. I really enjoy seeing them out of the home element - they are respectful, courteous and friendly. Besides hearing Sam sing This Little Light is especially thrilling because all we want of our children is to give them a chance to shine their light on the world. By the way, Bruce sings This Little Light with the Seeger Sessions Band - about blew Sam's mind when he heard it.

Spent last evening at the Armageddon Wrestling matches: Uncle Chuck entertained the boys with me as the fireworks went off, the diva's wrestled in skimpy costumes, and the boys watched John Cena and Jeff Hardy win championships. What a business that is! 20,000 people jammed the place and most tickets ran between $50 and $150 - tough economic times, indeed.

Now I've always been a Bush basher - but to see someone hurl their shoes at the President of the United States was more than a little disconcerting. There should be common decency and respect for any human being - let alone the man who is still the leader of the free world. I ran into someone today who thought it was funny and wished that the guy had a little better aim.

As I've said - not a Bush fan - but that was pretty sickening.

This little light of mine, I'm going to let it shine, everyday, everyday, everyday. Jesus gave me life, I'm going to let it shine. Yeah, Jesus gave me life, I'm going to let it shine.

Hitting someone with a shoe is the worst you can do to someone in Muslim culture I beleieve. Seems about right to me.

Like a lot of other people we got pulled into the series, ‘Suits’ on Netflix. I’ve never had much fun hanging around lawyers who have questioned me as a construction safety officer. My Buddy, Dave

Way back in 1997, I started working with a steel erection company out of Syracuse. I was coming straight from a long stint with a steel erector here in Buffalo so I knew my stuff when it came to steel erection safety rules. On day one, I met with the safety director and he was just getting started as a safety guy, but man, he certainly cared about the guys he worked with. Dave was a good man from the start. He’d say things like: “You’re so full of beans.” Just a down to earth, hardworking guy who became a fast friend. We drove all around New York State setting up jobs. I always let Dave drive so that I could rest. Mom & Ollie

 Ollie Stadium is a mess. The heavy rains rendered the backyard a mud pit and even though we threw in the side yard, the Big O was looking for more, and we were both covered in mud. I had to take some steam out of him somehow so I suggested we go visit Grandma. Ollie hates the car, but he laid quietly as we made the trip. We even brought the football because there is plenty of room to play at Grandma’s. Mom opened the door and started laughing. I thought about the love she had for every single dog we ever had. Oliver was quick to give my Mom a kiss, and then he stood beside her. The love between Mom and Dogs is a mutual bond. Through the years, Mom would make breakfast for the dogs.  Fried eggs, toast, bacon… She would wrap Christmas gifts for them. “To Jeter, Love Santa,” she would write on the cards.
