You Suck!

I did something that I haven’t done in a whole lot of years…

…read online reviews of some of my books.

Now, I must say that I have great followers and the reviews that I read were mostly very positive. 

There were a couple of stray thoughts that didn’t completely sing the praises of whatever book it was, but that’s okay, if I had to write a review of them years after they’ve come out, I’d probably nitpick some of the thoughts.

But there was one review of my book “Nobody’s Home” that stuck with me because the reviewer - who was anonymous wrote:

“The story was good, but the ending was terrible! I could never happen!! Don’t read this because of the unrealistic ending!!”

I laughed at first because “Nobody’s Home” was based on a true story and the most true aspect of the book was the ending…

…because it’s exactly what happened!

I wrote the ending based on the news stories and the eventual resolution that led to there being nobody home!

And I started to answer the guy or gal who wrote the review!

Then I stopped.

What do I care?

I’m not going to change his/her mind into believing that the ending was realistic because…

…it truly happened!

And the other thing is:

There’s absolutely no way that everyone will love what you do.

I have a book out today.

I haven’t even received a copy yet and there are people out there who have finished reading it!

Living in this day and age is wild.

Something that I created (with a lot of help) over hours and hours of time…

…is consumed quickly and promptly reviewed.

I’ve always kind of laughed at the less than lovely comments.

Don’t know how or why someone would do that.

I’ve read books that have missed the mark - even from best-selling authors.

I never once thought about writing it out:

“Dude! You suck!!”

The Barking Lions!!

You’ll love it…

…I think.

Like a lot of other people we got pulled into the series, ‘Suits’ on Netflix. I’ve never had much fun hanging around lawyers who have questioned me as a construction safety officer. My Buddy, Dave

Way back in 1997, I started working with a steel erection company out of Syracuse. I was coming straight from a long stint with a steel erector here in Buffalo so I knew my stuff when it came to steel erection safety rules. On day one, I met with the safety director and he was just getting started as a safety guy, but man, he certainly cared about the guys he worked with. Dave was a good man from the start. He’d say things like: “You’re so full of beans.” Just a down to earth, hardworking guy who became a fast friend. We drove all around New York State setting up jobs. Mom & Ollie

 Ollie Stadium is a mess. The heavy rains rendered the backyard a mud pit and even though we threw in the side yard, the Big O was looking for more, and we were both covered in mud. I had to take some steam out of him somehow so I suggested we go visit Grandma. Ollie hates the car, but he laid quietly as we made the trip. We even brought the football because there is plenty of room to play at Grandma’s. Mom opened the door and started laughing. I thought about the love she had for every single dog we ever had. Oliver was quick to give my Mom a kiss, and then he stood beside her. The love between Mom and Dogs is a mutual bond. Through the years, Mom would make breakfast for the dogs.  Fried eggs, toast, bacon… She would wrap Christmas gifts for them. “To Jeter, Love Santa,” she would write on the cards. They played with the big chicken that made a lot of noise. Mom tossed the football and Ollie brought it back to her. As the visit drew to a close I headed for the door.  “C’mon, Oliver,”
