Mellencamp has a line in the song, ‘Crumblin’ Down’ that goes like this:
“Ain’t no news here. I’m the same old jerk you’ve been having for years.”
I use that line constantly in my marriage.
The bottom line is that people don’t change all that much.
Obama mentioned that becoming president doesn’t change who you are, it amplifies it.
Thought of all of that when I heard that the White House is trying to excuse the horrific things that Trump has said about the troops by noting that he’s an ‘a$$hole.’
He didn’t actually mean it.
But, I didn’t think too much of it when I first read the Atlantic article.
Nothing was a surprise to me, and of course, I believed every single word because it’s who he is.
Ain’t no news here.
Google his talking or writing about the Central Park Five.
Watch his appearance before Congress to bash Native Americans.
Look up the contractors he stiffed.
The Gold Star family?
What he said about John McCain or George H.W. or Obama or George W.
He hates all equally.
His brother tried the service.
Trump and his father called him a loser and rode him endlessly.
That’s old news.
And the biggest problem of it all.
He’s a serial liar ...
...and sooner or later that was going to catch up to him.
He can deny it all along but here are the two things that he did to start his denial.
1). He tweeted, almost immediately, that he never said John McCain was a loser.
There is video of him doing just that. He sent a tweet, as President, that said: “John McCain is a loser.”
2). He claimed to have really wanted to go to the cemetery in France for the WWII memorial service. It upset him so much he said that he immediately went to the hotel and called his wife to tell her how mad he was that the weather was bad.
His wife was with him on the trip.
Liars gonna’ lie and keeping track of all the lies gets you eventually.
No new news.
He is what he is to steal some of his phrasing.
