Upsetting

I have learned to mostly ignore the angry tweets, the lies and the stupidity, but I got a little upset on Saturday night after watching a clip of Trump in Green Bay.

He was speaking about the liberals and his version of abortion.

The lie is vile.

He said that mothers deliver their child, the hospital swaddles the child for comfort, and that the doctor and mother then decide to execute the baby.

Terrifying.

That is NOT happening.

Anywhere!

There is no doctor in this country who would murder a baby, or perform any such abortion late in term without a viable medical reason centered on saving a life.

And what is so upsetting about this was the crowd behind him as he spoke.

The easily lied to, certainly manipulated, simplistic crowd of angry, ignorant rage who cheered the lie and who vow to make sure that the practice that isn’t happening, anywhere in this country, is stopped.

We’ve currently had a run of mass shootings in places of worship. The demented men who are killing fellow Americans are doing so because they’ve been worked up into a lather by rage and misinformation.

I imagine that there was someone out there last night who was filled with rage after hearing Trump tell that blatant, disgusting lie.

And who wouldn’t be upset by the murder of a child!

Of course it is never to be accepted!

In a sick mind that rage could fester and show itself in a number of violent ways:

Attacks against doctors?

Or abortion clinics?

Or pregnant, scared mothers.

Leaders lead.

Even bad leaders lead.

Bad information from a bad leader can cause damage...

...will cause horrible damage.

To hear something as ludicrous, ridiculous and irresponsible as that and simply accept it as truth is more than a little upsetting.

It’s ‘get him out of here’ worthy.

Horrible.

He’s going to have to dig under the ground to get any lower and it’s unacceptable in what I believed was a civilized nation.

My Buddy, Dave

Way back in 1997, I started working with a steel erection company out of Syracuse. I was coming straight from a long stint with a steel erector here in Buffalo so I knew my stuff when it came to steel erection safety rules. On day one, I met with the safety director and he was just getting started as a safety guy, but man, he certainly cared about the guys he worked with. Dave was a good man from the start. He’d say things like: “You’re so full of beans.” Just a down to earth, hardworking guy who became a fast friend. We drove all around New York State setting up jobs. I always let Dave drive so that I could rest. Mom & Ollie

 Ollie Stadium is a mess. The heavy rains rendered the backyard a mud pit and even though we threw in the side yard, the Big O was looking for more, and we were both covered in mud. I had to take some steam out of him somehow so I suggested we go visit Grandma. Ollie hates the car, but he laid quietly as we made the trip. We even brought the football because there is plenty of room to play at Grandma’s. Mom opened the door and started laughing. I thought about the love she had for every single dog we ever had. Oliver was quick to give my Mom a kiss, and then he stood beside her. The love between Mom and Dogs is a mutual bond. Through the years, Mom would make breakfast for the dogs.  Fried eggs, toast, bacon… She would wrap Christmas gifts for them. “To Jeter, Love Santa,” she would write on the cards. They played with the big chicken that made a lot of noise. Mom tossed the football and Ollie brought it back to her. As the visit drew to a close I headed for the door.  “C’mon, Oliver,”
