For Anything
If you believe that Christ is the guiding influence in your life, you probably shouldn’t make a pretzel out of yourself to condone bad behavior.
What drives me absolutely crazy sometimes is when people who claim to be dead set against something because of a true set of values just looks the other way when the guy is on their team.
You abhor Jeffrey Epstein and his life of depravity?
Then you should condemn all of his friends and not just the ones with the D or R by their names depending on which way you lean.
You don’t like liars or crooks?
You shouldn’t back them.
If you don’t care for people who abuse the welfare system on the low end of the scale...
...someone in the billionaire bracket stealing every single dollar should annoy you as well.
You have to stand for something...
...or you’ll fall for anything.
If you didn’t much care for a president having an affair while in office back in the 90’s...
...paying off porn stars while cheating on your wife should also get your gall.
I often get a lot of, “Remember when Obama said you can keep your doctor,” as a unforgivable lie.
Meanwhile there have been more than 20,000 mistruths uttered in the last 4 years.
I bring this all up because this weekend appeared to be an exercise in misdirection, misinformation and downright 3rd world propaganda.
Remember when North Korea showed clips of Kim Jong-Un rollerskating to let everyone know he was healthy?
We got:
1). Trump sitting at a desk signing his signature to the center of a blank sheet of paper.
2). A ride around Walter Reed to wave to supporters when the patient is carrying a highly contagious disease and he is in a hermetically sealed vehicle with people who’s health is now at risk.
3). A doctor who stood up and lied and then tried to come clean by saying he wanted to paint a rosy picture.
That’s not what a doctor is supposed to do.
“What do you make of all of this?” One of my golfing buddies asked.
“No idea,” I said. “I don’t know what is true.”
How did we get into this mess?
No sense of value.
People who are honorable lying to defend things that are indefensible.
Lately we’ve heard army generals and journalists and former cabinet members all standing up and saying:
“Don’t re-elect this guy. He’s incompetent.”
But for years, they stood by him.
We also have others who’ve sworn an allegiance to him after years of being on record saying the exact opposite.
Will we make it through this mess?
It all depends on honor, I suppose, and for people who consider themselves to be good people to actually be good people.
You aren’t a racist?
Then don’t back a racist.
You aren’t a liar?
Don’t condone lying.
You are not for stealing at any level?
Don’t back a crook.
It’s really that simple, but I’m afraid a whole lot of folks have already doubled down and are now so entrenched that they don’t want to admit that they were bamboozled.
If you aren’t thrilled that you may have been conned...
...for God’s sake, don’t be conned again.
Stand for something...
...or fall for anything.
