The Bills Will Win the Super Bowl

I’m calling it.

Write it down:

December 17th, 2020.

In February the Buffalo Bills will be dancing in the confetti.

Now, as some of you may realize, I have not been the biggest Bills backer around these parts. I was all in from 1970 through about 1998.

I jumped off the bandwagon after spending a summer working on the construction project at the stadium. The Bills and the players were just so arrogant. I grew to dislike them and Orenthal on the wall still bugs me.

But that’s neither here nor there.

There’s something about this group. They are hungry. They’re having fun. They’re talented, and they’re well managed.

Think 1996 Yankees.

The Yankees hadn’t won since 1978, but man, they were so good in ‘96 that about halfway through the year I thought that they were just dumb enough to win it all.

And they did.

This won’t be easy, and if the Bills run into Derrick Henry early in the playoffs he can send them packing.

It’s also apparent that Green Bay and Kansas City are really good.

You have to beat those teams to win it all.

Back in ‘96 the Yankees ran into the Braves in the World Series. They had Maddux, Glavine and Smoltz.

The Braves were heavily favored and they jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the series.

The Yankees won 4 straight to win the series and shock everyone but me.

I see similarities between that Yankees team and this Bills team.

They are burning to win. They are a Hail Mary away from winning 7 straight.

They can win a shootout against KC or Green Bay.

I think Henry can escort them out of the playoffs with a 200-yard rushing game, but I’m thinking they won’t see him.

And how excited will I be?

I haven’t watched a full game in weeks. I feel no joy when they score, other than being happy for my boys.

Things have changed a lot in 25 years.

I wonder if I will ever be as fired up about a title as I was back when I was a younger man.

But I am calling my shot.

The Buffalo Bills are going to win the super bowl.

Unless Tom Brady is there...

...then all bets are off.

I just think that my sister-in-law and my mother-in-law have their hands in it.

Go Bills.
