Reading the News

Seems like the only story these days is the weather.

"How cold is it gonna' be? What's the wind chill? Weather storm warning or advisory?"

Relentless.

But there has been some news.

Like the mother of four shot to death in Vegas by a teenager who was supposedly part of a road rage incident.

The story goes:

Incident

Mom goes home and gets son and his gun.

They look for the guy, find him, retreat.

Guy comes after her and there's a gunfight.

She's killed.

That's just an awful story, and one that sort of illustrates what happens these days. People don't fistfight. People just don't flip others off. It goes straight to a gunfight.

Sad.

Speaking of sad, what's up with Rudy Guliani?

He goes off on the current sitting president and really says something that is nasty and sort of arbitrary. He 'doesn't think Obama loves America'?

He should've stopped his sentence with 'doesn't think.'

And whatever.

Be critical.

I was appalled at the guy who threw a shoe at George W. (who I wasn't a fan of). Come on! It's the sitting president!

No respect at all?

And make a point, oh wonderful mayor!

How is Obama supposed to answer such a comment?

"I DO love America?"

I've never been a Rudy fan. He sits there at every Yankee game, in the first row, trying to make patriotic with his NYPD and Fire Department hat.

We get it, Rudy. You were the mayor.

Long before these inane comments I wanted him to go away.

I hate getting into such a discussion because there's no winning it, but it really is pretty lame to go off on the president of the country based on something he feels or doesn't feel. How the hell does Rudy even comprehend such a thing?

Not big on that story at all.

The American sniper story is also going on.

I have been reading a lot (see weather note above) and some of the books I've read have dealt with mental illness on epic levels.

People hearing voices.

Folks being violent for the simple reason that they can't control impulses.

It's too sad to comprehend.

It appears the guy who killed the American sniper was really quite out of touch. Chris Kyle even sent a text saying something along those lines in the moments before the guy killed him.

One question:

Why is that guy handed a gun at a range?

I'm going back to the weather.

I don't understand the news.

Like a lot of other people we got pulled into the series, ‘Suits’ on Netflix. I’ve never had much fun hanging around lawyers who have questioned me as a construction safety officer. My Buddy, Dave

Way back in 1997, I started working with a steel erection company out of Syracuse. I was coming straight from a long stint with a steel erector here in Buffalo so I knew my stuff when it came to steel erection safety rules. On day one, I met with the safety director and he was just getting started as a safety guy, but man, he certainly cared about the guys he worked with. Dave was a good man from the start. Mom & Ollie

 Ollie Stadium is a mess. The heavy rains rendered the backyard a mud pit and even though we threw in the side yard, the Big O was looking for more, and we were both covered in mud. I had to take some steam out of him somehow so I suggested we go visit Grandma. Ollie hates the car, but he laid quietly as we made the trip. We even brought the football because there is plenty of room to play at Grandma’s. Mom opened the door and started laughing. I thought about the love she had for every single dog we ever had. Oliver was quick to give my Mom a kiss, and then he stood beside her. The love between Mom and Dogs is a mutual bond. Through the years, Mom would make breakfast for the dogs.  Fried eggs, toast, bacon… She would wrap Christmas gifts for them. “To Jeter, Love Santa,” she would write on the cards. They played with the big chicken that made a lot of noise. Mom tossed the football and Ollie brought it back to her. As the visit drew to a close I headed for the door.  “C’mon, Oliver,”
