Come On! Please a Little Sense!

Last week two police officers jumped into a car that was on its way to Women and Children's Hospital and saved the life of a young boy. They performed CPR right there on the street and at least got the boy into the hospital.

At the hospital the doctors and nurses worked feverishly to try and save that boy - I know they did - because they once saved mine. Unfortunately, the child didn't make it, but that does not diminish those who made every effort to keep him alive.

And T freaking O got off a plane today and got the key to the city from our Mayor. Seriously? Really?

A team coming off about 11 straight crap seasons, signs the one player who has been booted out of every city he's ever been in because he's a me-first, egomaniac, and we give him the key to the city?

TO got off the bus and said he was going to be #81. When he was told that the number belonged to another player he said that it wasn't his problem and that the other guy could just go pound salt.

Good dude there. He has butchered every quarterback he's ever played with. He has held out for more money and more respect. He cries, pouts, and makes demands, and we reward that behavior before he even flips off his first teammate?

The key to the city?

I personally know about three thousand people who have lived, loved and promoted Buffalo at every turn. This guy won't make it until Thanksgiving with this team.

I certainly hope that key doesn't really open something down at City Hall.

Talk about being morally bankrupt.

What a shame.

I had just told somebody I work with that no team will ever pick him up. One day later my team did, how disappointing. Do they need a quarterback? One is being released from jail this week.

My Buddy, Dave

Way back in 1997, I started working with a steel erection company out of Syracuse. I was coming straight from a long stint with a steel erector here in Buffalo so I knew my stuff when it came to steel erection safety rules. On day one, I met with the safety director and he was just getting started as a safety guy, but man, he certainly cared about the guys he worked with. Dave was a good man from the start. Mom & Ollie

 Ollie Stadium is a mess. The heavy rains rendered the backyard a mud pit and even though we threw in the side yard, the Big O was looking for more, and we were both covered in mud. I had to take some steam out of him somehow so I suggested we go visit Grandma. Ollie hates the car, but he laid quietly as we made the trip. We even brought the football because there is plenty of room to play at Grandma’s. Mom opened the door and started laughing. I thought about the love she had for every single dog we ever had. Oliver was quick to give my Mom a kiss, and then he stood beside her. The love between Mom and Dogs is a mutual bond. Through the years, Mom would make breakfast for the dogs.  Fried eggs, toast, bacon… She would wrap Christmas gifts for them. “To Jeter, Love Santa,” she would write on the cards.
