Mr. Postman
We were living in California at the time and I was complaining about the fact that it took three days to get a letter from back home.
Of course, at the time, we had no way of knowing that we would eventually have communications in an instant, but I distinctly remember my Dad saying that the post office was truly a remarkable service.
“You drop a letter in a box here with a single stamp on it and 3 days later someone is reading it all the way across the country.”
It’s something we’ve all taken for granted for years, and over the course of the last week I’ve felt a little sick when I’ve given much thought to the fact that they’re trying their best to shut it all down in an effort to render votes not countable.
The constitution is being destroyed in real time and so far the response appears to be:
Here’s a strongly worded tweet in protest.
It’s really quite disgusting.
Following the election in 2016 we heard grumbling about voter fraud and immediately a committee was set up to look into it.
Nothing came of it because instances of voter fraud are kind of rare.
But here we are.
Throwing around accusations and dismantling another American institution. There’s been a real charge to try and privatize it because, it’ll be easier to steal money, I guess.
And in the meantime, the elderly who depend on the mail to be consistent so they can get their meds, businesses who pay and invoice via the hard mail, students looking for school communications...
...they’re all out of luck.
In the middle of a pandemic, with millions unemployed, they’re tearing apart the USPS.
Sad.
I could never have actually imagined the devastation of it all and it certainly isn’t one man doing all this damage...
...it’s a team effort, and it would be nice to get some answers from the Congress...
...but they’re on recess.
They feel as if they earned it, I guess, after ignoring all the Americans who are desperate for help.
That has to be tiring.
Ignoring, stealing and dismantling...
..wears you out.
The post office needs to be saved.
