It CAN Happen to You

I’ve earned my living by telling guys and gals what they can and can’t do.

In the construction industry a lot of people fall to their deaths.

“You know what they all have in common?” I asked during the training classes.

“They didn’t think THEY would fall.”

Running into a lot of that with Covid-19.

Yet, millions are getting it.

“Eighty percent of the cases are mild,” one guy, who is diabetic and 50 said. “I’ll take my chances.”

“Dude. If you’re wrong, you’re dead. No coming back from dead.”

“That you know of,” he said, and we laughed.

I’ve always been a cautious guy. I’ve been called some derogatory words for my not taking unnecessary chances.

When we were teens we’d ride snowmobiles. I always went slow and was always on the lookout for ponds.

“Where were you?” They’d ask when I’d show up ten minutes late.

A whole bunch of people are willing to take chances because it won’t happen to them.

Yet, it’s all a justification for the fact that they don’t want to be inconvenienced.

They’ll argue against the science all day because it doesn’t fit the narrative.

The Marlins and the Cardinals appear to be the two teams who’ve put the baseball season in fresh jeopardy.

Reportedly the Marlins went to a club in south beach. The Cards players went to a casino.

They’re mostly players in their 20’s who feel that they will surely beat it and that they probably won’t even get it!

Obviously they don’t care much on who gets it and can’t handle it.

It’s really disappointing to me, actually.

I don’t think a month of completely shutting it all down could have possibly hurt as much as all these months of half-assery has.

And they aren’t talking about a second wave anymore.

We can’t get to the second wave...

...because we seem to love the first wave so much.

Ah well.

Let’s not worry about it, huh?

Won’t happen to us.
