D.B. of the Week - Adrian Peterson (Again)
You remember Adrian Peterson, right?
He's the All-Pro running back for the Minnesota Vikings.
He didn't play at all last year because he was arrested for beating his kid.
He thought it was discipline.
Well, the NFL graciously reinstated him to his high-paid job, figuring that finishing your community service and saying you're sorry is good enough.
(Who doesn't love a feel good story?)
How is Peterson this week's D.B. of the Week?
Well...he wasn't happy with how he was being paid.
He felt that the Vikings weren't showing him the right amount of respect.
Are you kidding me?
Peterson is the highest paid running back in the league.
He has already received $53 million in guaranteed money!
He is set to get $12 million more guaranteed for this upcoming year.
The money that he is set to receive...if he does his job in 2016 and 2017 totals more than $31 million more!!!!
But he's upset.
He wants more guaranteed money...
...he was set to hold out until he got the respect that he deserves.
And you know what?
He went on a bit of a Twitter rampage to some of his 'fans' to say that the NFL is horrendous to players by not allowing them full security.
As we all know...I'm not a fan of the NFL...
...but is this guy for real?
He misses an entire year because he was suspended, convicted, and publicly shamed and he wants people to feel sorry for him because part of his $80 million isn't guaranteed?
Is your livelihood guaranteed?
What if you tear up a knee?
You know what you get...in most cases?
Yeah...a portion of your salary.
You'll probably lose your home.
D.B. of the week indeed.
How anyone...under any circumstance can ever cheer for this D.B. is really beyond me.
(As I planned this blog post I heard that Peterson changed his mind and decided to show up for work...he said that he wants to keep playing in Minnesota forever).
Now isn't that a feel good story?
What a dope.
