That's some story out of Sanford, Florida, huh?

If you've been living under a rock a skittles-carrying, iced-tea drinking, hoodie-wearing black child was walking around in a neighborhood, talking on the cell phone and staying out of the rain. A neighborhood watch guy was watching him closely and decided that Trayvon looked like trouble. Zimmerman called 911, was told to stay put, called the kid a fu%&*ng coon, got out of the car and chased the kid down. A scuffle ensued and Trayvon was shot and killed.

If you haven't heard the 911 call, don't listen to it. Hearing that kid scream, "Help me! Help Me!" is bone-chilling.

The watch guy hasn't been arrested yet because there seems to be a backwards ass law on the books in Florida.

There are 16,000 murders in this country every year. This one struck a cord. Trayvon is black.

Geraldo came out and said that the hoodie was as much to blame for the murder as the guy who pulled the trigger.

I read a Facebook post today that said that Trayvon deserved it because he fought back.

A New Orleans police officer was fired for saying that since Trayvon lived like a thug he shouldn't have been surprised to die like a thug.

We have a Trayvon march going on here in Buffalo tomorrow.

We kind of lost of sight of things here, right? A 17-year old boy was shot and killed. His freaking hoodie did it?

WTF?

I have a closet filled with hoodies and I like skittles and iced tea.

The guy chased him down, fought with him, and shot him.

How freaking complicated is this people?

Black, white, purple, beige...what the hell does it matter?

The thing that gets me about it is that we really should be up in arms about all the murders. We kind of slough them off as a society.

"Blacks killing blacks."

What're you gonna' do?

"Husbands killing wives."

At least he had a motive.

The amount of deaths in this country, at the hands of our own citizens, has always kind of confused me.

We can't get on top of that?

I guess if we are going to blame the hoodie, we probably haven't evolved enough to figure it out.

Where do you get your news? There are about 6 versions of this story and there is an on going investigation and you write this? Are you kidding me?

I listened to the 911 call...seemed fairly simple. Had Zimmerman stayed in his car and waited for the police the shooting wouldn't have happened. The kid was unarmed, wasn't he? Did I get that wrong? Was it starburst instead of skittles?

The kid didn't stay in his car. He's dead.

Starburst. Skittles. WTF?

He was 17. . . and was murdered.

Are you kidding me???

6 versions or one version, the premise of the blog is that there is murder. . .

My Buddy, Dave

Way back in 1997, I started working with a steel erection company out of Syracuse. I was coming straight from a long stint with a steel erector here in Buffalo so I knew my stuff when it came to steel erection safety rules. On day one, I met with the safety director and he was just getting started as a safety guy, but man, he certainly cared about the guys he worked with. Dave was a good man from the start. Mom & Ollie

 Ollie Stadium is a mess. The heavy rains rendered the backyard a mud pit and even though we threw in the side yard, the Big O was looking for more, and we were both covered in mud. I had to take some steam out of him somehow so I suggested we go visit Grandma. Ollie hates the car, but he laid quietly as we made the trip. We even brought the football because there is plenty of room to play at Grandma’s. Mom opened the door and started laughing. I thought about the love she had for every single dog we ever had. Oliver was quick to give my Mom a kiss, and then he stood beside her. The love between Mom and Dogs is a mutual bond. Through the years, Mom would make breakfast for the dogs.  Fried eggs, toast, bacon… She would wrap Christmas gifts for them. “To Jeter, Love Santa,” she would write on the cards.
