One of them damn weeks. I have a theory about short weeks.

They suck.

Because people still have agendas, and people have more rest, and they feel that the new year is going to be different, so they are going to sprint out of the gate.

And call me!

Bastards!

There were others who were voicing some of the same concerns. I saw it all over Facebook, but let me tell you, it ruined my first week of 2012.

So much so that I am tired of this year.

But a funny thing happened on my way to absolute destruction.

I found out the date of Bruce's next CD. And tell me if this doesn't make your skin crawl.

As I wrote in Oh Brother! Jeff got sick on the very day Bruce released his last CD. Do you know when he last came to Buffalo?

On my brother John's birthday. A balloon drifted from the rafters. It had been released for Little Steven's birthday. It landed in John's lap.

It said, 'Happy Birthday.'

It was the last concert the E Street Band ever played together with Clarence.

Bruce released his concert DVD. On what would have been Jeff's birthday.

He is releasing the new CD, as rumors say, on the 3rd anniversary of Jeff's passing.

There is a great force at work, here, friends.

It keeps me swinging for the fences.

These crazy coincidences are the only thing that gives a tiny bit of hope in an afterlife of some sort. They are really starting to pile up.

Way too many to be coincidences, don't you think? Unless Bruce is somehow in on the overall plan.

Of course Bruce is a piece in the magical puzzle. . . I am overwhelmed with the joy of it all, even on the days when I doubt, I still don't doubt, if that makes sense.

Plus, I'll be 40 this year on March 8th. . . there will be new Bruce jams to listen to at the bash I intend to have for myself, and for Jeff. . .

My Buddy, Dave

Way back in 1997, I started working with a steel erection company out of Syracuse. I was coming straight from a long stint with a steel erector here in Buffalo so I knew my stuff when it came to steel erection safety rules. On day one, I met with the safety director and he was just getting started as a safety guy, but man, he certainly cared about the guys he worked with. Dave was a good man from the start. He’d say things like: “You’re so full of beans.” Just a down to earth, hardworking guy who became a fast friend. We drove all around New York State setting up jobs. Mom & Ollie

 Ollie Stadium is a mess. The heavy rains rendered the backyard a mud pit and even though we threw in the side yard, the Big O was looking for more, and we were both covered in mud. I had to take some steam out of him somehow so I suggested we go visit Grandma. Ollie hates the car, but he laid quietly as we made the trip. We even brought the football because there is plenty of room to play at Grandma’s. Mom opened the door and started laughing. I thought about the love she had for every single dog we ever had. Oliver was quick to give my Mom a kiss, and then he stood beside her. The love between Mom and Dogs is a mutual bond. Through the years, Mom would make breakfast for the dogs.  Fried eggs, toast, bacon… She would wrap Christmas gifts for them. “To Jeter, Love Santa,” she would write on the cards. They played with the big chicken that made a lot of noise. Mom tossed the football and Ollie brought it back to her. As the visit drew to a close I headed for the door.  “C’mon, Oliver,”
