Foolish Behavior

So Roman Polansky fled the country because his wife had been murdered by Charles Manson's crew and he thought that 42 days was too much jail time for the rape he committed. After all, she was 13 years old, and that was a long time ago. Besides, he's a big-time director, and we should just let him go after all this time.

Boo-hoo - face the music - loser. You should have received more than 42 days in jail.

Ran into a guy today who explained that he is facing jail time because he returned from work, found his wife in bed with a good friend of his, and beat the guy with a baseball bat, breaking both of the fellow's legs. I asked him if he was sorry he did it, and he said, "Yeah, the guy was a golf partner of mine."

And David Letterman? Come on, now. He's another guy I really admired. His quick wit was always something I admired. He didn't deserve to be shaken-down, but it's hard to be a victim of a shake-down if you are up front, right?

Whatever. Just more bad behavior, I guess.

Yet perhaps the whole man-woman dynamic should be revisited. Maybe it is impossible to make it all the way through acting like decent human beings to one another.

Then again...

You never hear about the marriages that stretch from year-to-year in something that resembles happiness. The idea that people get along okay doesn't exactly conjure up enough emotions to sell newspapers.

I was standing with a friend of mine when we heard the co-worker tell the story of breaking his former friend's legs.

"I get along with my wife," my buddy said.

"Me too," I echoed.

"Oh yeah, what's she doing right now?" the guy who swung the bat asked.

We all laughed.

My buddy picked up the cell phone. "I'm calling her," he said. "If she answers on the 5th ring and is all out of breath, I'm heading home."

We laughed again.

It's not really funny.

I have a hard time not just with Polanski but with the girl's mother. What was she thinking???? On top of that the defenders of Polanski think nothing of the 13 year old being given champagne & a Quaalude - and she still was able to say "NO" and "STOP IT" but somehow this should be no big deal. And now the girl, now woman, in some ways becomes a victim once again. Cliff you may want to read this link:

Like a lot of other people we got pulled into the series, ‘Suits’ on Netflix. I’ve never had much fun hanging around lawyers who have questioned me as a construction safety officer. My Buddy, Dave

Way back in 1997, I started working with a steel erection company out of Syracuse. I was coming straight from a long stint with a steel erector here in Buffalo so I knew my stuff when it came to steel erection safety rules. On day one, I met with the safety director and he was just getting started as a safety guy, but man, he certainly cared about the guys he worked with. Dave was a good man from the start. Mom & Ollie

 Ollie Stadium is a mess. The heavy rains rendered the backyard a mud pit and even though we threw in the side yard, the Big O was looking for more, and we were both covered in mud. I had to take some steam out of him somehow so I suggested we go visit Grandma. Ollie hates the car, but he laid quietly as we made the trip. We even brought the football because there is plenty of room to play at Grandma’s. Mom opened the door and started laughing. I thought about the love she had for every single dog we ever had. Oliver was quick to give my Mom a kiss, and then he stood beside her. The love between Mom and Dogs is a mutual bond. Through the years, Mom would make breakfast for the dogs.  Fried eggs, toast, bacon… She would wrap Christmas gifts for them. “To Jeter, Love Santa,” she would write on the cards. They played with the big chicken that made a lot of noise. Mom tossed the football and Ollie brought it back to her. As the visit drew to a close I headed for the door.  “C’mon, Oliver,”
