Firefly Lane

Sarah Chalke should win an award or two. She kind of stole the show from Katherine Heigl, but they were both good.

It’s a story about friendship and it drives me crazy that stories are no longer told in chronological order, but they jumped back and forth pretty smoothly, and I was amazed that Chalke looked good at 30 and at 50-something as she was at the end.

And the series made me few nostalgic as they went through high school years and trials and tribulations that present themselves in those years.

And then there were marriages and kids and sickness and health.

“They didn’t need to make it so sad,” Kathy said as we went through one of the last episodes.

“That’s life,” I said. “Everything crumbles.”

And of course, that’s a tough thing when you’re looking to be entertained, but it’s worth it when it’s done well enough.

Life can certainly grind things down, but love and friendships survive even though we sometimes don’t see buddies for awhile because we are stuck in the house here in Buffalo because it’s cold and grey!

“Now what?” Kathy asked when we finished binging the six or so episodes that they had to wind up the story.

“We wait a couple of days,” I said. “There will be a new series soon enough.”

The golden age of entertainment for sure!

But Firefly Lane will stick with me a bit, and Sarah Chalke should be recognized.

She was great.
