John Feinstein
There are so many writers that I admire.
John Feinstein was certainly one of them.
I enjoyed so many of his stories including, “A Season on the Brink”, “The Punch”, “The Last Amateurs” and “A Good Walk Spoiled.”
He was prolific.
Brilliant too.
Years ago, I was at a book signing in NYC and I had the chance to shake hands with Frank DeFord, another great sportswriter who died about a year later.
When we were young, a couple of us swapped books. Through the years, we have continued to talk about good writers and great books.
John Feinstein entered our lives, and made them better.
He was just 69 years old.
Not enough time because if he had been blessed with another ten years he might’ve written ten more bestsellers.
The year of 2025 might be the year that brings reading back to epic levels.
I’ve read about a dozen books so far, and I’ve talked to a number of my geek reader friends who are also in double figures already as we all try and escape the reality being brought to us by the clown show.
I have a few Feinstein books on my shelves.
There are certainly a few that deserve a second reading…
…give it a go!
Great sportswriter.
Gone too soon.
