Don’t Touch Social Security!

It’s already started.

Musk called social security a Ponzi scheme.

DOGE has identified it as wasteful and they are cutting the staff.

They’re telling people that if you want to apply for social security it will be a matter or months before you can get through.

People who want to collect the money that they paid into for decades will have to report in person.

Imagine the elderly trying to log into a system that is basically shut down…

…and then having to shuffle off to an understaffed office.

There are also reports that SS checks will be missed by some.

The most vulnerable of all citizens are now being threatened.

People collecting social security aren’t living high on the hog…

…they have a fixed amount of income in a world where inflation threatens their ability to even eat three square meals a day.

Skip a check or two???

And how about someone who is 60 years old, with weak legs and a sore back who is tho long about not climbing ladders ten years from now?

Will SS be there for those of us who paid into it?

Will it be robbed so that billionaires can work on becoming trillionaires?

It’s disgusting to even hear the damn rumors. In fact, it’s a form of domestic terrorism to leave millions of Americans wondering what the future will bring.

What’s the end game here????

To kill off the elderly so they don’t suck the system dry and leave a bunch of sad, sad billionaires?

I can’t even imagine the reaction if they do what they are saying they’re going to do.

Leave social security alone.

It’s our freaking money.

There’s Still Greatness

The other night I got home from work and Kathy and Sam were engaged in a game of backgammon. Sam had never played and wanted to learn. He got some late doubles and won his debut game. (I helped a little). And I thought of my buddy, Gag. We were roommates at Gannon back in 1983. We played at least 25 games of backgammon a night. By the end of the year he wound up beating me by just a couple of games out of a few thousand. Eyes on the Horizon

My sister’s book is out there! Go get it!! It makes me so proud to see the book on Amazon, knowing that it’s very, very great! It’s been a long, long time since we were out in California, brainstorming my stories long before they were published. Carrie Lynn was writing, writing and writing some more through the years and I kept telling her… …”Go for it!” Well, she did!  To amazing results. Of course I was able to read the book as it was being put together, but I ordered a copy from Amazon yesterday and can’t wait to read it again. The shoe is on the other foot now as I have been sitting on a lot of my writing lately. I plan on getting it out there before the end of 2024, but for now: Carrie takes center stage! Eyes on the Horizon Review

It’s always strange for me when someone I know tells me that they read my books and it’s weird for them because they think of me as they’re reading the story. I didn’t quite grasp what they meant, and hoped that they’d get caught up in the story and not me. I kind of get what they’re saying now because I just finished reading my sister Carrie Lynn’s excellent first book, ‘Eyes on the Horizon’. Now, I had read the story a long while ago, but a whole lot of work went into the end product. As a writer, I always try and guess along with the author because I can see the plot lines, and I’m often critical of plot lines that come out of nowhere as the author tries to unpaint the corner he’s stuck in. There was none of that in ‘Eyes on the Horizon’! I didn’t have any moments of, ‘Come on, now, that doesn’t work!’ I caught all the subtle lines that we shared in conversations and I was proud that Carrie defined her characters clearly and used them to propel the story forward.
