Whatever Hurts My Brother
Caught a movie.
“Rob Peace” which was based on a true story.
It was a story that was right up my alley about a black man convicted of a crime he may not have committed.
I won’t give up much more, but early on, the founding statement of the boy’s prep school was:
“Whatever hurts my brother, hurts me.”
It’s a statement that seems lost in today’s world.
There certainly seems to be a true moving away from such a philosophy.
“I got mine, screw you!”
Seems much more appropriate.
There’s a true nastiness afoot - especially on social media.
“Detach,” one friend said. “It’s the only way you’ll stay sane.”
He has a point.
I watched a white man in his mid-40’s at a Five Guys - the man felt that he was kept waiting too long:
“Let’s go, beaners! Give me my food before you all get deported.”
Another man went to a board meeting in his town. He explained that his community was being ruined by “N-words.”
Emboldened and entitled.
That hurts my brothers.
Such behavior hurts all of us.
It’s been a sad week.
Seems lawless, and people are being appointed to positions because they appear to be loyal to the hate.
Reparations for white men?
I saw that as being proposed.
And I’ve seen a whole lot of people speaking out about how “We need to get God back!”
Those who are using that as a crutch are doing so believing that Jesus was a gun-toting, white nationalist who despises all minorities.
If we truly want to get God back we need to think a little about kindness and brotherhood that includes all.
Downhearted a bit.
Not sure we will see it come back around.
“Rob Peace”
Good movie.
Great message.
