Green Grass

Our phones made a high-pitched squeal and then the television made the same sound.

The world being warned about the coming snow.

One foot, two feet, three feet, four…

…I didn’t read the entire alert.

The Thruway closer and thus far the snow was well south:

“We’ll get it over night,” I said.

Yet, I woke up to green grass.

Played a game with Ollie - being sure to bring the ball in so it doesn’t get buried.

“Maybe it’ll miss us completely,” I thought.

Laughed.

That ain’t happening.

Can’t do Turkey anymore…

…grabbed a couple of porterhouse steaks for me and Sam.

As I was leaving the store a woman passed by me - she pointed to the huge grey mass that the sky had become.

“Looks like we’re going to Kansas, Toto.”

I laughed.

Stay warm.

It’s a coming.
