We’re Being Played

I know a lot of people who are liberals.

I also know a lot of people who are on the conservative side of the political aisle.

Know what we have in common?

We all want the same things!

People on both “sides” of the divide just want to go to work, raise their children, have a place to hang their hat, and a little extra money to go to a game, or fish or hunt or golf or go camping, or to the beach.

We want our kids to have a chance.

Yet, instead of just enjoying our days, we are spending our off hours fighting about stupid things that we are fed to keep us on one side or the other. 

Wages have been virtually stagnant for decades!

But we argue about:

Trans athletes?

There have been about 10 instances of that in the last ten years or so.

Colleges being denied federal funds if they back Covid vaccines?

Absolutely zero universities or colleges are in that camp.

Plastic straws?

Who cares!!!

Yet there endless social media battles about such things.

Know what the ‘Have Yachts’ are doing?

Buildings their wealth and trying their best to build an oligarchy where all of the bottom-feeders that make up 99% of the nation are fighting over scraps.

There are a lot of very anxious people now:

Federal employees.

Immigrants who have been here for years.

Veterans.

Elderly people and people on disability.

Those who depend on Medicaid or Medicare.

People who are in line to collect the social security that they LOANED the government.

All on edge…

…red and blue alike.

We have been told that there won’t be tax on tips, that we’re doing away with income tax.

Meanwhile, we are hearing about Greenland and Canada as a 51st state and the idiotic Gulf of America garbage.

What is with all the cuts to everything???

Prices are still soaring.

Rooting out fraud and waste?????

That guy!

He’s worried about fraud?

The fight continues…

…money will be saved.

One question:

Has anyone asked where all the ‘saved’ money will go?

I have a sneaking suspicion that it is going to the pockets of those who aspire to be trillionaires.

Think of that when you start an argument with one of your friends about whether or not there are cat litter boxes in school classrooms.

We are being robbed blind.

And it won’t take long.

The other night I got home from work and Kathy and Sam were engaged in a game of backgammon. Sam had never played and wanted to learn. He got some late doubles and won his debut game. (I helped a little). And I thought of my buddy, Gag. We were roommates at Gannon back in 1983. We played at least 25 games of backgammon a night. By the end of the year he wound up beating me by just a couple of games out of a few thousand. Eyes on the Horizon

My sister’s book is out there! Go get it!! It makes me so proud to see the book on Amazon, knowing that it’s very, very great! It’s been a long, long time since we were out in California, brainstorming my stories long before they were published. Carrie Lynn was writing, writing and writing some more through the years and I kept telling her… …”Go for it!” Well, she did!  To amazing results. Of course I was able to read the book as it was being put together, but I ordered a copy from Amazon yesterday and can’t wait to read it again. The shoe is on the other foot now as I have been sitting on a lot of my writing lately. I plan on getting it out there before the end of 2024, but for now: Carrie takes center stage! Eyes on the Horizon Review

It’s always strange for me when someone I know tells me that they read my books and it’s weird for them because they think of me as they’re reading the story. I didn’t quite grasp what they meant, and hoped that they’d get caught up in the story and not me. I kind of get what they’re saying now because I just finished reading my sister Carrie Lynn’s excellent first book, ‘Eyes on the Horizon’. Now, I had read the story a long while ago, but a whole lot of work went into the end product. As a writer, I always try and guess along with the author because I can see the plot lines, and I’m often critical of plot lines that come out of nowhere as the author tries to unpaint the corner he’s stuck in. There was none of that in ‘Eyes on the Horizon’! I didn’t have any moments of, ‘Come on, now, that doesn’t work!’ I caught all the subtle lines that we shared in conversations and I was proud that Carrie defined her characters clearly and used them to propel the story forward.
