Hard to Follow

Last week, I didn’t spend a whole lot of time worrying about the downfall of the democracy as I was more concerned with finding my ball and hitting my approach shot straight.

I also purposely ignored the news and the demolition of our government from inside the government.

Reality is a nasty concept as I had to return to:

1). Miserable weather

And 

2). Absolute idiocy.

Elon Musk trying to speak from the Oval Office as his kid wiped boogers on the desk and told the orange blob what we all were thinking was a Saturday night live skit come to life.

Someone last week mentioned that Musk is a genius. Well, he speaks at a 3rd grade level - his kid was more coherent.

And the ideas that are being presented are scary, at best.

1). Government workers are being pushed out of their jobs.

2). Greenland is going to be Red, White and Blueland when we steal it?

3). Canada is going to be the 51st state.

4). We’ll go to war to take the Panama Canal?

5). Gulf of America?

6). No more Department of Education?

7). Get rid of cancer research and mental health facilities?

8). Kick people off of Medicaid, Medicare and Social security?

9). No more fluoride in the water or vaccines?

10). Cut the waste!!!!

Sounds logical.

Meanwhile, they spent millions to send the con artist and his family to the Super Bowl where he was promptly booed and left because the halftime act was a DEI hire, I guess.

Yet, the NFL came through again - being the garbage league they are - they removed the ‘End Racism’ messages that they post in the end zones because they didn’t want to offend the racist.

Things are going great!

Wish I was still looking for my ball in the rough.

There’s Still Greatness

The other night I got home from work and Kathy and Sam were engaged in a game of backgammon. Sam had never played and wanted to learn. He got some late doubles and won his debut game. (I helped a little). And I thought of my buddy, Gag. We were roommates at Gannon back in 1983. We played at least 25 games of backgammon a night. By the end of the year he wound up beating me by just a couple of games out of a few thousand. That’s 60-year-old Gag in the photo - running the Disney marathon with his son, MJ - they do it every year. Eyes on the Horizon

My sister’s book is out there! Go get it!! It makes me so proud to see the book on Amazon, knowing that it’s very, very great! It’s been a long, long time since we were out in California, brainstorming my stories long before they were published. Carrie Lynn was writing, writing and writing some more through the years and I kept telling her… …”Go for it!” Well, she did!  To amazing results. Of course I was able to read the book as it was being put together, but I ordered a copy from Amazon yesterday and can’t wait to read it again. The shoe is on the other foot now as I have been sitting on a lot of my writing lately. I plan on getting it out there before the end of 2024, but for now: Carrie takes center stage! Eyes on the Horizon Review

It’s always strange for me when someone I know tells me that they read my books and it’s weird for them because they think of me as they’re reading the story. I didn’t quite grasp what they meant, and hoped that they’d get caught up in the story and not me. I kind of get what they’re saying now because I just finished reading my sister Carrie Lynn’s excellent first book, ‘Eyes on the Horizon’. Now, I had read the story a long while ago, but a whole lot of work went into the end product. As a writer, I always try and guess along with the author because I can see the plot lines, and I’m often critical of plot lines that come out of nowhere as the author tries to unpaint the corner he’s stuck in. There was none of that in ‘Eyes on the Horizon’! I didn’t have any moments of, ‘Come on, now, that doesn’t work!’ I caught all the subtle lines that we shared in conversations and I was proud that Carrie defined her characters clearly and used them to propel the story forward.
