Cam Schlittler

I was nervous all day.

Yet I had some confidence in the kid the Yankees were throwing out there as Cam was throwing well all through September and I knew that he could get it up there at 100 mph.

But I didn’t expect that!

A rookie pitcher, on the biggest stage of all.

After the 8th inning Cam walked off the mound - a 24-year old man - had to be on top of the world.

“How does he feel right now?” I asked Kathy.

“Pretty freaking good,” she said.

And the thing was, he was throwing so well that I wasn’t anxious at all after the 5th inning or so.

Which is what I was really hoping might happen.

And now, a night off, before the series against the Blue Jays…

…and my buddy Jeff reminded me that he once wore a Blue Jays hat to our house…

…my Dad took it from his head and dunked it in a can of paint.

As he should have.

A good night’s sleep.

Thanks to Cam.
