Christmas Time

There are some Christmas songs that make my skin crawl.

Guess we’ve heard them too many damn times.

I love the Bing Crosby-David Bowie ‘Little Drummer Boy’ and Seger sings it well too.

I like Bruce’s Christmas songs, of course, but have heard them a lot. The George Michael and Billy Squier have great Christmas songs.

The Paul McCartney song is one that makes me scramble for the stereo to shut it off and Mariah Carey’s song is WAY over-played.

So, most of the songs don’t put me in the mood.

We talked presents yesterday…my golf bag is up-to-date…

…don’t need anything.

Handing out presents is still fun, of course, but I don’t have to get up early to set up any train sets, and Kathy doesn’t want anything either.

“I buy what I want.”

That leaves dinners.

I’m fired up about those.

Sauce, meatballs, sausage and stuffed shells today.

Surf and turf tomorrow.

Yet, here’s the thing:

I eat LESS now!

We ordered subs last week.

I ate half of mine!

My buddy Jeff and I used to get two apiece!

We’d eat them in 15 minutes with a gallon of milk.

We lose ALL our talents as we age!

Christmas is about family and love and spiritual thoughts.

A song here, a present there and as much steak as I can manage.

Have a great Christmas!

I mentioned a Mick Jagger song a few years back and I think of it every Christmas…

…’God Gave Me Everything I Want’.

I’ll listen to that one today.
