Target
There seems to be a true lack of understanding about tariffs.
I read something the other day that may explain it.
54% of American citizens read at less than a 7th grade level.
That might explain it.
I have a trade deficit with Target.
I’ve spent a few hundred dollars there and they haven’t bought a damn thing from me!
It’s not fair!
We’ve all known for decades that Americans consume more of the world’s resources than just about anyone else.
We are consumers.
We have deficits with other nations much as I have a trade deficit with Target.
Now the great lie about it is that by placing tariffs on other nations will result in them sending us billions of dollars.
That was never going to happen.
They also were not going to take a loss to sell us their products.
So…
…two things will happen.
1). They will continue to send stuff to the all-consuming nation, but the prices will be much higher. If we want it, we will pay more.
So the billions ‘pouring’ in will be pouring out of our own pockets.
Or
2). They will stop sending things.
Which will lead to empty shelves.
And our recourse is to:
1). Build things here and pay people $3 an hour and hope they work for such a low wage so things can be affordable.
There are plenty of jobs open now…
…pick veggies for $10 an hour?
2). We are working to deport those willing to work.
It’s an unmitigated disaster…
…authored by someone who doesn’t seem to be able to read at a 7th grade level.
Leaving the rest of us to wonder how we can possibly make it stop.
Send him to Alcatraz, maybe?
