BOO! BOO! BOO!!!
The Dodgers bought the last two World Series and their fans seemed thrilled with that, but on Wednesday night they were down in Game 3, at their home ballpark, and suddenly:
The BOO’s rained down.
To top that, I was at Yankee Stadium in April in 2001. Derek Freaking Jeter started his season in a horrific slump. I think he went about 30 ABs without getting a hit.
BOO! BOO!! BOOOOOOO!!!
They booed Jeter in April, after the Yankees won the titles in 98, 99 and 00.
In November they had their third straight parade and five months later, the fans were booing their captain.
Being in the stadium when it was happening was insane to me. I certainly didn’t join in!
Rivera got booed. Judge too. Reggie once famously said, “They don’t boo nobody’s.”
But I find the thought of booing professional athletes as kinda’ weird.
People pay high prices for tickets, so I don’t think they should be silenced when they’re pissed off, but it seems
a lot of fans are simply angry and they spend a lot of time screaming at the team they’re supposedly rooting for.
When the team gets knocked out, as the Yankees did a couple of weeks ago, fans are enraged:
“Fire Boone! Fire Cashman!”
That’s still going on, and it’s also insane to me.
Aaron Judge didn’t play in a series where you lost two games by a single run.
Boone should be fired for that? And Cashman too?
Hell, boo the trainer, or the bad calf muscle.
I can see fans giving it to opposing players, but the team they’re supposedly rooting for?
And the players definitely hear it and are affected by it.
It makes them press.
Joey Gallo was a Yankee that fans got all over.
The more they booed, the more he struck out.
When he was mercifully released to end his Yankees career, he admitted that the fans hate got to him.
Bills fans are angry with their talented running back, James Cook.
Do they think he wants to fumble?
Imagine what it would feel like if someone came to your work and booed you.
“You lost the big sale.”
BOO! BOO! You suck!
Just another weird thing that humans do.
But it passes time, I guess.
