Meta AI

I don’t know much about the coming technology.

I have no clue what Crypto is about. I still write checks to pay my bills, and I pay with cash as often as I can.

My boys don’t carry cash.

I handed Sam two twenties and a ten one day and he asked if I could Zelle it to him.

“I’ll lose that in ten minutes,” he explained.

And now we are talking about AI and I’m starting to hear that down the line there won’t be any need for drivers as cars will self-drive. We won’t need lawyers as AI will write briefs and summarize arguments in seconds.

Surgeons?

Gone - robot surgeons and computer doctors will be all we need.

As for artists, teachers and writers and musicians and movie makers?

Human participation is not required.

The article that I read stated that the work force will be cut in half in the next 5-7 years.

Companies won’t need to buy health insurance or give time off to robots or computers.

In order to be a productive member of society those who lose the jobs described above will be picking beans for minimum wage.

Or sitting home, wondering why the world changed.

I don’t quite understand, but I don’t need to understand, I guess.

I’ve read some stories written through AI.

Poems too.

Straight up garbage.

Human emotions can’t be faked.

The stories I’ve read have been cheesy imitations of real writing.

I suppose that will be fine for the future generation who will be dumber than the last.

I begrudgingly joined the world of social media. I do a bit in my safety classes about going to work and leaving our phones at home, just attached to the wall.

“I never even thought about my freaking phone!”

AI.

I don’t get it.

Seeing the fat, pedophile president checking members of the Canadian hockey team into the boards, or the same obese dude dressed up like Rocky Balboa doesn’t seem entertaining to me.

And what is dangerous about it is the presentation of the news.

I watched a ‘Breaking News’ video of the discovery of Nancy Guthrie’a body.

It was a routine news story and was well done. Halfway through, I wondered:

“Is this fake?”

Went to google and saw that it certainly was.

Her body hasn’t been recovered.

“Fake news!”

Yep.

Glad I’m nearing the end of my career.

It’s going to get real weird.
